Injured Veteran Receives Mortgage-Free Home from Building Homes for Heroes, Pulte Homes and Ibis Charities Foundation
WEST PALM BEACH, Florida -- Two years ago, Ibis Charities Foundation generously donated enough money to modify the home of two injured military veterans.
But the residents at The Club at Ibis wanted to do more.
“The goal was to build a house for an injured veteran,” said Stephen LoGiudice, Chief Operating Officer/GM at The Club at Ibis, “and to do one every year.”
Mission accomplished.
On May 22, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in Port St. Lucie for U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant Francis Reilly to receive a mortgage-free home. The 48-year-old Reilly served half his life – 24 years -- in the U.S. Air Force as a Pararescue man before being medically retired in 2018 after suffering paralysis in his right leg.
Ibis Charities Foundation, the charitable arm of The Club at Ibis in West Palm Beach, donated funds to cover the cost of building the home that will be valued at $500,000. Ibis Charities Foundation partnered with Building Homes for Heroes and Pulte Homes to allow Reilly, wife Heather and their three children to live in a mortgage-free home in the Heron Preserve subdivision of Tradition.
LoGiudice said Ibis Charities Foundation has donated more than $400,000 this year to local charities to provide food, medical care, housing, beds and shoes for needy children. A separate fund was started two years ago to help deserving veterans.
“It’s hard to put into words, the ability to help another human being, particularly someone who served our country, so we can do what we want to do,” said LoGiudice, who attended the groundbreaking with Ibis residents Kris Cohn and Rick Friedland. “This is a day we will never forget.”
Neither will Reilly. The family had sold their home in Melbourne before the pandemic and were looking at relocating to Kentucky, where his wife has family. Instead, they can continue to live in Florida, which he says is the best state in America for veterans.
“I had never heard of The Club at Ibis until this week, but a charitable organization like Ibis just pours into people to lift them up,” Reilly said. “Ibis is now part of my family. I couldn’t do this without you.
“You guys have touched me in ways I cannot adequately express. The significance of this gift transcends the material value of it. To say this home is a gift is an understatement. It’s a symbol of hope and a testament to the boundless goodness and compassion that exists within the human spirit.”
Cohn, who serves on Ibis’ Board of Directors and is the liaison between the club and the charity, was wiping away tears after the groundbreaking ceremony. Not only for what just took place, but will continue to happen.
“This will literally be a mind stamp for me – a picture and a moment that I will never forget,” Cohn said. “We will never forget the impact that Ibis, in our own small way, has been able to have on this man and this family and how gracious and selfless he was in his comments.
“What it does for Ibis is realize how we continually have to re-commit to growing this so we can do this the year after, the year after and the year after. We wanted to get this off the ground and now we did. This is perfect.”
Friedland, Vice-President for Ibis Charities Foundation, agreed: “This is a different opportunity for us, and it adds a lot to what we already have accomplished. We want to reach out to help those around us.”
The best part about Monday’s ceremony was it was just the start of a wonderful partnership with Ibis Charities Foundation, Building Homes for Heroes and Pulte Homes.
The home will include a workout room and a lap pool for Reilly, who has become one of the U.S.’s top Paralympic cycling athletes. The home will be built to accommodate a wheelchair, if needed. Reilly, who received more than 25 medals for his service, currently walks with a brace.
“I’d like to thank Ibis Charities Foundation for their amazing contribution to this project and their continued support for building homes for heroes,” said Building Homes for Heroes project manager Rusty Smallwood. “Without generous organizations such as Ibis Charities Foundation, projects like this one for Frankie wouldn’t be possible.”

The Club at Ibis Hosted Grand Opening of
New Practice Golf Facility
with Annika Sorenstam and Martin Hall in Attendance
The Club at Ibis has long had one of the top instructors in golf in Martin Hall. Now the high-end, private club has one of the most technologically-advanced ranges for Hall and the other PGA Professionals to work his magic.
The Club at Ibis unveiled a cutting-edge range that includes TopTracer technology, becoming the first private club in Florida to offer a staple on PGA Tour telecasts. The range also includes digital yardages, synthetic turf target greens, two new USGA-spec chipping greens and – get this – new robots to pick up range balls and cut grass.
"I could talk a half hour about how fantastic this place is," Hall said. "It's magical, amazing, inspirational … all of the above. It's an absolute treasure chest for anybody who wants to try and get better at golf.
"When you look at what all the best players are doing, they are using technology left, right and center to measure their performance and improve their performance. When used correctly, technology will accelerate your progress."
The club also debuted its Ibis Golf Academy featuring Martin Hall. The 66-year-old Hall has been at The Club at Ibis since 1997 and has done more than 350 episodes of School of Golf as Golf Channel's lead instructor.
Hall conducted a one-hour clinic with Hall of Famer Annika Sorenstam to celebrate the new range. Fitting, because the 10-time major player performed like a machine while winning 72 LPGA Tour titles and 10 majors.
Sorenstam spoke about how when she started her career, there was almost no technology in the game. Now it's everywhere.
"I wish I had something like this when I was growing up," Sorenstam said. "I've never seen anything like this. It's massive with lots of different targets and tees. Getting instant feedback is so important to improving your game."
Now the Club at Ibis members can get access to the same level of information provided to the world's best players. This technology should lead to lower scores and increased enjoyment.
"This allows our members to hit any type of shot they'll experience on the golf course," said Ben Bauer, Ibis' director of golf. "Every shot will react the same way it will on the golf course. This is another way to offer our members amenities they can't get elsewhere."
We renovated our 20-acre Golf Practice Facility. The Nicklaus designed facility boasts over 80 hitting stations, five target greens, two short game areas, a defined "X"-shaped fairway, Toptracer Range technology, robotic ball pickers and mowers, and much more! Click here or on the image below to see all the incredible details of this redesign.

The Club at Ibis is proud to announce that it has once again been recognized as a Platinum Club of America, as determined by Club Leaders Forum, the preeminent consulting source in the private club industry.
"The Club's Board, management and staff are thrilled with this announcement. Being named a Platinum Club is the most respected recognition in private club excellence," said General Manager/COO Stephen LoGiudice. "We are constantly challenging ourselves on how we can improve our Member experience."
Established in 1997, Platinum Clubs of America recognizes the top 5% of private clubs in the nation, as elected by Club Managers, Presidents, and Owners, using criteria approved by its Advisory Board, which is comprised of 15 Club Managers from some of the most respected private clubs in America. Platinum Club status is awarded to clubs in five categories: Country, Golf, City, Athletic, and Yacht Clubs. The Club at Ibis was recognized as #56 out of the top 150 private country clubs in the nation and selected among criteria such as universal recognition, excellence in amenities and facilities, governance and prudent fiscal management, and The Member's overall experience.
This announcement comes on the heels of Ibis being named a Distinguished Club with Elite Status from BoardRoom Magazine.
Click on the video below:
September 2020
The Club is very pleased to announce that it has been awarded the designation of a Distinguished Club for the sixth year in a row, as determined by the annual Distinguished Clubs award program conducted by BoardRoom magazine, one of the most respected trade publications serving private clubs. This year we maintained our special recognition, giving Ibis the "Elite" designation, after meeting additional criteria, including being viewed as in the top echelons of local and regional reputation and recognition.
For fine private clubs that operate at the highest standards, BoardRoom magazine's entirely merit-based Distinguished Clubs award program uses a club-specific rating system that recognizes the club, its management, and its staff based on a proprietary criteria and evaluation process that distills and measures a club's Member Experience. As such, the rating system used by Distinguished Clubs is different from any that has come before, and with it, the private club industry now has the means to identify the top private clubs based on the most important aspect: Member Experience.
As defined by Distinguished Clubs, "Member Experience" is that special combination of "Qualities" that a private club provides its members. It is not just the quality of service, or of the facilities, or of the product provided, it is also the quality of the staff and of the management, as well as the overall club governance they deliver.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. — The Club at Ibis residents came together Sunday to help those less fortunate. All items donated help support the Palm Beach County Food Bank.
A constant line of vehicles filled with bags of groceries made drop-offs between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. inside the parking lot of Club Ibis. Volunteers assisted with loading and sorting all the donations. Rick Carpenter with Club Ibis said the community's support continues to grow every year.
"Today the need is greater than usual. Last year we had an impact from Hurricane Irma and the need was great last year because of that catastrophe. There are many people in need that wouldn't previously ask for help," Carpenter said.
The Palm Beach County Food Bank provides access to nutritious food for more than 100,000 people every month. The food bank procures approximately 5 million pounds of food annually from grocery stores, restaurants, food distributors and wholesalers. The Palm Beach County Food Bank programs reaches families, school children and seniors and connects those in need to resources.

The Golfin' Guy reviews The Club at Ibis:
"To say The Club at Ibis is a residential golf community is a gross understatement; it's a community that relishes in a lifestyle that has it all. Behind the secure gates of this West Palm Beach community are 33 neighborhoods with over 1850 homes. Ibis is a mandatory membership community which boasts some of the finest conditioned golf courses, and recreational facilities in South Florida. Members must purchase at minimum a social Membership level, but when a golf Membership grants you access to three championship Nicklaus family-designed courses by Jack himself as well as sons Jack Jr. and Steve, why would you consider anything less?"

Ibis Charities is Named Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation
The Palm Beach County Chapter of the Association of Professional Fundraisers, one of 300 chapters worldwide, has selected Ibis Charities to receive the award of Outstanding Philanthropic Foundation of the year.
Each year, the chapter selects an individual philanthropist, a corporation, a foundation and a fundraising professional to be recognized for outstanding achievement.
Ibis Charities, the official foundation of The Club at Ibis, was chosen because it has made a significant impact on the community by supporting non-profit organizations in Palm Beach County. The Foundation carefully selects and vets those organizations that provide family and social services, health and wellness programs, educational programs, art and cultural opportunities and environmental concerns.
With an all volunteer group of supporters, the Foundation has donated over $875,000 to local charities over the past three years.
Sharon Bross, President of Ibis Charities will accept the award on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Members of The Club at Ibis at the awards ceremony next month.
"Ibis Charities Foundation is honored" Bross said "to be recognized for its efforts to give back to those in the community who need a helping hand. We would not be able to do this without the support of The Club at Ibis and the Major Sponsors who give generously to the Foundation and the hundreds of Members who attend and participate in our series of fundraisers throughout the year".
